Have you ever heard of Caipirinha? Let me tell you a little story about how I became a fan. I was back in the office on a Friday afternoon, after a not so light lunch with my colleagues when I started to doze off. Next thing I knew, I was in Sao Paulo on one of the most gorgeous beaches Iā€™d ever seen. The funny thing about my dreams is that they often include bars in very random places. So I made the best of a great dream sequence and asked the barkeep for his signature drink. Little did I know that the caipirinha was Brazilā€™s national cocktail and I was thoroughly educated on the matter. He then turned to me and said, ā€˜ā€™I heard from a friend of a friend of mine that lime, sugar, jalapeƱo, maple and cachaca are a great mix for keeping the workforce happy and efficientā€™ā€™. I woke suddenly to a day drinking opportunity and remembered that my buddy Simon hooked me up with this amazing rub that turned my regular office caipirinha into a Friday (or any other day of the week) workforce motivator. Since that fateful day, my colleagues and I enjoy a jalapeƱo maple office caipirinha every now and then. BTW, donā€™t tell the boss.

  1. Spread the JalapeƱo Maple Barbecue Rub into a plate. Rub a lime wedge on the rim of a short glass and turn the glass upside down into the rub to rim the edges;
  2. Fill the glass with crushed ice and slices of limes;
  3. In a cocktail shaker, combine the cachaƧa, sugar and lime juice with some ice and shake well;
  4. Pour the cocktail into the glass. Garnish with a maraschino cherry (optional) and serve.
